    Lovely — where is it?

    • Thank you kindly, Lindy! It’s near Stayton, Oregon at a pond in the Bear Branch Creek subbasin. This is one of the restoration sites I work on with other partners & contractors in coordination with the private landowner. The surrounding land is unique because of the perched water table & subsurface flows which create a wet prairie habitat adjacent to the riparian buffer & oak woodland. The soils are shallow & the depth to bedrock is only 1 to 1.5 feet. Native flowering forbs like lomatium, camas, shooting star, meadow checkermallow, saxifrage & delphinium (Willamette larkspur) are present in the prairie & riparian edges around the pond. Colder subsurface water flows under the pond and into the tributary creek at the outlet which helps to cool warmer, lower flows in the summer. There was a sord of mallard ducks swimming over the calm surface of the pond that day, fostering furrows of contemplation in the ripples that radiated across its reflective face. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend!
      Cheers,

I figured she was getting close to a year old. It flies, doesn’t it? My sweet babe turned 11 in December! I don’t know where the time goes. Boy, she’s had a time with those teeth. Hope she feels better.

Isn’t it amazing how much you can love a little one? It’s the best thing ever! Have a wonderful first birthday!!
