Perfect spiral

The ancient eavesdropper

1-IMG_7279Vacant
snail shell —
forlorn
and worn —
still harbors
a perfect
spiral.

Leaves lie scattered
at the foot of a tree —
pages of a calendar
recycling another year.

The hemlock
hunched over
a blank field
of snow —
writing
stories with
its shadow.

How beautiful. I thought it was a Christmas ornament for a second. 🙂

  2. Very nice poem. Good nature imagery. Skillful, as usual.

Ahhhhh… “…writing stories with its shadow…” Lovely. And, perhaps, we all do so 🙂
