Light licks

So much light you brought into our life, sweet Izzy puppy. I miss everything about you…even your snoring and bad gas. There is no replacing you…the smiling sun at the center of our home. Holly, Prizm & Raven keep looking for you & I think they know…they lost their best friend too. May you rest in peace, my loving Izzy. All you wanted was for us to be happy & I thank you for gracing us with your kind, gentle spirit. I could not have asked for more.

Oh, Tyler. So very sorry. There are no words when you have lost your best friend.

    • Thank you, my friend. It happened so suddenly. Izzy couldn’t move her back legs and was in pain. She couldn’t lay down & stood on her front two legs for the whole day before my wife got home and called me at work. We found out that she had legions (bulging disks) swelling and applying pressure on her spinal cord. Surgery could not fix this and it is a common problem with longer dogs like Corgis. I am glad she did not have to suffer, but miss her beyond belief. I thought we had more time…she was only 7 years old. We have 2 cats and one 14 year old flat coat retriever and they keep waiting for Izzy to return. They provide some solace and comfort, but Izzy was the one that brought our hearts together and centered our home. It will take time for us to heal and move on. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Have a lovely Sunday & all the best in the week ahead!
      Cheers,
      Tyler

So sorry for your loss. It made me a little teary-eyed to read this. I have two “senior” dogs.

    • Thank you, my friend. It happened so suddenly. She was in pain and surgery could not fix the problem. I am glad she did not suffer, but miss her beyond belief. I thought I had more time…she was only 7 yrs old. We have 2 cats and a 14 year old flat coat retriever…all older than Izzy and outliving her…it seems so backwards. I wish you many more wonderful years spent with your senior dogs. Death is a hard fact to face at any age. Have a lovely Sunday and week ahead!
      Cheers,
      Tyler

Aw, he was beautiful. I’m so sorry for your loss, I know how sad you must be feeling. Cherish your memories.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. Izzy was one of a kind…she was a Borgie or a Beagle-Corgi mix. We had her for 5 wonderful years and she brought so much joy to our lives. I will always cherish the fond memories of our time together. Wishing you all the best in the week ahead, Miriam πŸ™‚
      Cheers,
      Tyler

      • Miriam says:

I hope you too Tyler. We had a beautiful Blue Heeler that we had to put down to sleep years ago and we’d had him for 15 years. It doesn’t matter how long we’ve had them they become a huge part of our family. I send you hugs of friendship.

  4. Amy says:

So very sorry for losing your best friend, Tyler. I understand what you are going through. Take care.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. Izzy was one of a kind…a Borgie or Beagle-Corgi mix who was full of joy, love and life. We will always cherish the 5 wonderful years we spent with her and the unconditional love and trust she shared with us. Best wishes to you in the week ahead, Amy πŸ™‚
      Your friend,
      Tyler

  5. Dogs are truly family. We’ve been with many (along with many other animals) over the years and it is always very difficult when they leave. Everything’s eternal, so don’t stay in sorrow too long. Cherish the times you’ve had together.
    Warm regards! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. Yes, we treasure the good times and memories made with our beloved Izzy. She was the youngest of our 4 pets and it was shocking to lose her so soon. But it’s all about the quality of life, not the quantity. She did not have to suffer and for that I am grateful. Thank you again for your heartfelt condolences, Tom. Best wishes to you in the week ahead πŸ™‚
      Your friend,
      Tyler

  6. A wonderful and heart-rending tribute. All of us who love our dogs can totally relate…

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. Izzy was one of a kind…a Borgie (Beagle-Corgi mix) who was always full of joy, love and energy. She made our lives better by just being herself. We loved her so much that we couldn’t stand to see her suffer. She was only 7 years old and the youngest of our 4 pets, so I did not expect this to happen. We cherish the fond memories we made over the past 5 years & feel very lucky to have had Izzy grace us with her inner light. Thank you again for your heartfelt condolences. Best wishes to you in the week ahead πŸ™‚
      Your friend,
      Tyler

Oh, Tyler. I am so sorry. So young. She looks really nice. Losing a furry friend is such unbearable pain. A big empty place now. It’s good you have each other to get through this together. Animals grieve too. Again….so so sorry.
    Peace
    Mary

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. My wife and I will get through this difficult time with the help of each other, friends (like you), family and our 3 pets. We loved Izzy so much that we couldn’t stand to see her suffer. There is a huge hole in our hearts right now and it will take time to heal. We cherish the 5 wonderful years spent with her & the unconditional love & joy she shared with us. Thank you again for your condolences, Mary. Best wishes to you in the week ahead πŸ™‚

I can sympathize with you for I am about to go through the same thin. I have 12 and half year old toy poodle who now quick eating and is weakening with time.

    • I’m so sorry, my friend. We all eventually have to face the harsh reality of death and learn how to cope with the loss of a loved one. I thought I’d have more time to spend with Izzy…she was only 7 years old and the youngest of our 4 pets. We have a 14 year old flat coat retriever who is fading and not long for this world. I am going to continue to cherish each day I have with my pets and let the fond memories sustain me through difficult times. I pray you have more time to spend and memories to make with your poodle. Thank you for your condolences. Best wishes to you in the week ahead πŸ™‚
      Your friend,
      Tyler

  9. Beautiful image to remind us all to savor our companions for the “sunshine” they bring to life. Virtual hugs to all of Izzy’s companions, starting with you.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. I wouldn’t be able to get through this without my wife, friends (like you), my family and our 3 other pets. This loss was especially hard because Izzy was the first pet my wife & I owned together and the first pet I’ve ever had to put down. It was the right decision to not prolong her suffering, but I miss her something fierce right now. I thought I’d have more time…she was only 7 years old and the youngest of our 4 pets. This experience has taught me to cherish every day we spend with our beloved pets. Thank you again for your condolences. Wishing you all the best in the week ahead πŸ™‚
      Your friend,
      Tyler

  10. I’m so very, very sorry for your loss. There are no words that can help. I’m just so sorry.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. My wife and I loved Izzy so much & we couldn’t stand seeing her suffer. Surgery could not fix the problem, so we had to make a very difficult decision. I do not regret putting her down, but I thought I had more time to spend with her…she was only 7 years old. We have a 14 year old dog and two older cats who outlived Izzy…I did not expect this to happen. This reminds us to cherish each day we spend with our beloved pets. There is no replacing Izzy, she was a Borgie (Beagle-Corgi mix) and one of a kind. With the help of friends (like you) and family, my wife and I will get through this. Thank you again.
      Your friend,
      Tyler

      • So young but she had enough love to last many life times. And while I know that doesn’t help, in any way at all, I believe that she was loved so much, while she was here, that she’s like a shining star and more than happy to wait until you can be with her again. ❀

      • So very true, my friend…thank you πŸ™‚

  11. Jen Sawicky says:

My condolences to you and your family. I hope that the joyful memories of your time together will be able to replace the pain of your loss in time.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. My wife and I loved Izzy so much that we couldn’t stand to see her suffer. We remember the 5 wonderful years we spent with her & the unconditional love she shared with us. There is no replacing a dog like Izzy, part Beagle and part Corgi (a Borgie), she was one of a kind. So much joy she brought to the world just by being her loving self. It’s going to take time for us to heal and move on, but with the help of friends (like you) and family, this loss is more bearable. Best wishes to you in the week ahead, Jen πŸ™‚
      Your friend,
      Tyler

  12. janettoms says:

Take some comfort in having given Izzy love and safety. The price of loving is sometimes the pain of losing.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. Very true. Yes, we gave Izzy a warm home & showered her with our love. We loved her so much that we couldn’t stand to see her suffer in pain. This is the hardest decision I’ve ever made and I know it was the right one. But it doesn’t make me feel any better knowing she’s gone forever…the finality of death is shocking and painful. She was so young at 7 years…our 14 year old dog and two older cats outlived her…I never expected this to happen. This experience has taught me to cherish every day we have with our beloved pets. I hope you have a great week, Janet.
      Your friend,
      Tyler

I am sad to hear about your dog.She seemed like such a sweet and gentle soul. Strenght for you and family to deal with the loss and sadness.I know this leaves such an empty space in your home.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend πŸ™‚ My wife and I are getting through this difficult time with the help of friends (like you) & family. Losing Izzy at such a young age reminds me to cherish every day we have with our beloved pets. Izzy was the first pet that we owned together and the first pet I’ve had to put down, so it’s hard to fathom right now. When I wake up in the morning & come home from work at night, I’m still expecting to see Izzy greet me with a bark and many fervent licks. This too shall pass but it’s going to take time. I appreciate your thoughtful comment. Have a wonderful week, my friend πŸ™‚
      Cheers,
      Tyler

I am so sorry for your loss. I was looking at pictures today of my beloved Shamrock who passed. I will never be the same without him. Prayers and thoughts.

    • I’m so sorry for your loss as well, Kathy. Thank you for the heartfelt condolences. Izzy was one of a kind…a Borgie or Beagle-Corgi mix who was full of life, love & joy. We cherish the 5 wonderful years we spent with her and the unconditional love and trust she shared with us. She made our world better just by being herself. Our three older pets have been a comfort to my wife & I and I don’t know what I’d do without them. Best wishes to you in the week ahead, my friend πŸ™‚

Wonderful loving words. I feel with you.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. We will never be able to replace a unique dog like Izzy, but eventually, we may get another puppy companion for our older dog, Raven. Have a wonderful weekend πŸ™‚

“slobbering sunshine”–a perfect tribute to your dearly departed Izzy, who helped create and sustain the glue that holds you all together right now. Thanks for telling us about her and how she ended her days. The photo is almost ethereal. Just right.

What a sweet face you’ve captured on Izzy here. ❀

I'm so sorry, Tyler. Pups are truly family members, and the *best* and most generous lovers … Sometimes I think they were put on this planet just to show us how to do it better.

It hurts my heart to hear that Izzy crossed over so much sooner than you expected … I can only only imagine. But what a joy to have had the years with her!! I love that you depicted her here under that wash of rainbow light, seeming like she's smiling.

    Truthful, I'm sure. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. We miss her smiling face right now & treasure the memories we made over the past 5 years. We were fortunate to share in each other’s lives. What a wonderful, loving doggie…I am glad she is no longer suffering. I hope you have a wonderful weekend πŸ™‚
      Your friend,
      Tyler

I’m so sorry you have lost your Izzy. There are some losses that cannot be filled. My little Josie will be 11 next month — there is gray on her chin and above her eyes and at the tip of her tail. When I walk her next, I’ll dedicate that walk to your Izzy. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. I pray that you have many more wonderful years to spend with your Josie. Treasure these moments & never take a single walk for granted. I never expected to lose Izzy, our youngest pet, so soon. We have a 14 year old flat coat retriever and two 8-9 year old cats. Thank goodness to have their love and company through this difficult time. I hope you have a lovely Sunday, Carrie!
      Your friend,
      Tyler

    I am so very sorry.
We lost 4 of ours all within a year, and I know just how much this hurts.
May your wonderful memories help you as you move through your grief.

I love how Izzy looks as if she is in the middle of a rainbow in this photo. I know she was, and is, well-loved.

    • Thank you kindly, my friend. She was such a wonderful, loving doggie…we miss her something terrible, but I’m glad you doesn’t have to suffer anymore. Life must go on & we cherish the memories we shared with her over the last 5 years. Have a wonderful weekend!
      Cheers,
      Tyler πŸ™‚
