Perfect spiral

Vacant
snail shell —
forlorn
and worn —
still harbors
a perfect
spiral.

Leaves lie scattered
at the foot of a tree —
pages of a calendar
recycling another year.

The hemlock
hunched over
a blank field
of snow —
writing
stories with
its shadow.

  1. Hemlock writing stories with its shadows … nicely conveyed! Thank you for that mental image.

Lovely Tyler. As much as I love your photographs, your words artistically paint a beautiful picture as well!

    • Thank you kindly, Mary! I actually added a photograph of the snail shell later, since it makes the post more appealing & complements the poem. I usually like the photo/poem combo, but sometimes, it’s nice to have the reader imagine it for themselves. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend!
      Cheers,
      Tyler 🙂
