Scribed & emptied

The ancient eavesdropper

As a
poet,
you need
to find a
balance
between
creativity &
clarity,
the slate
scribed &
emptied,
mindfulness
& mindlessness.

  1. Carrie Birde says:

Love this — pared down and perfect.

  2. Alison says:

I feel this dichotomy when I try to meditate – I want to experience and record everything in my mind, but then I also want to let my mind go so I can better experience my meditation!

    • I’m glad you agree, my friend! The poem below sums up this dichotomy (& irony).

      I imagine
      switching off
      my mind —
      but the irony
      I often find —
      I am powerless
      at the hands
      of imagination.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend & Happy Halloween, Alison!
      Cheers,
      Tyler
