Weary vertebrae

My body
sinks into
bed like
a giraffe
in quicksand —
a long
cascade of
weary
vertebrae &
bones —
descending
towards
sleep.

So original: giraffes and sleep-not a sheep to be seen for miles. The effect of the poem is a wonderful long slide into sleep.
    Cheers
