My body
sinks into
bed like
a giraffe
in quicksand —
a long
cascade of
weary
vertebrae &
bones —
descending
towards
sleep.

Excellent stuff
Oh, this is so good. And the design of your words make it even more graphic. Love it.
So original: giraffes and sleep-not a sheep to be seen for miles. The effect of the poem is a wonderful long slide into sleep.
Cheers
Know the feeling after a long arduous day of hiking.
