Laurel of lichens

Contorted in life & death
a tree’s body laid to rest
crowned by a laurel of lichens
beautiful after the fall

Beautiful, part of the circle of life.

  2. Eerie. The purple color makes everything look as if it’s from a different planet. Beautiful and primordial.

    • Thank you, my friend! Yes it does seem eerie, doesn’t it? This dead tree reminded me of the twisting arms of a giant wooden octopus, lichens draped like seaweed over its contorted frame. I hope you had fun ringing in the New Year. All the best in 2014!
      Tyler 🙂

A little bit eerie too 🙂

wow…thats one ancient looking soul 🙂

    • Thank you, Morgan! Yes, this ancient tree is a magnificent gentle giant in life and death. It really stopped me in my tracks. Have a wonderful week, my friend!
      Tyler 🙂

  5. Ah! A great capture with your words. 🙂

    • Thank you kindly, my friend! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Hope you are doing well. We’ve had 16 inches of snow fall in 2 days and its finally starting to melt. This amount of snow is unheard of for Corvallis, but we are in the middle of a dry spell, so the extra precipitation helps. Keep up the excellent work on your blog and have a wonderful week!
      Tyler 🙂

      • Oh! Snowfall… I can’t imagine that amount of snow.
The spring has arrived here and the weather is quite good. Yesterday, we had an azure blue sky and staying for long out in the sun gave me a headache. 🙂
Thank you for your kind likes. I appreciate you taking the time to read my work. I certainly like yours, dipped in rich imagery and the fragrance of nature.:-)

  6. This is a very striking image!
