Elm jungle gym

The ancient eavesdropper

Jungle gym

The elm tree
stands with an
amputated limb,
its arm blown down
by wind, though on
its stump, a mushroom
sprouts in its stead,
balance achieved.

Above,
licorice ferns
slide their fronds
along its trunk
in arcs of
emerald,
as zephyrs push
golden leaf
swings off
into space —
so much at play
amid a jungle gym
canopy.
