The Power of Plural

This poem is a perfect complement to my last post…the power of plural is standing behind one Earth as equals…

The ancient eavesdropper

Maybe I am not enough, a far cry from transcendental hermit.

Who knew humans could be our closest confidants?

Completeness begins in the presence of others

who share the same warmth, a common passion and inner worth.

No day shines in my eye unless it is more than I.

Watching smiling faces, lost in trailing conversations,

laughing as if pure joy was on unlimited supply,

no thought of any demands.

Why do we not take comfort in our ability to care and be more aware?

It is not enough to live in one’s own skin, the inhabitant must explore

the vastness of the universal condition with its kin.

Six billion would have a few empty zeros if nobody remembered

the power of plural.
