There’s an ant in my honey

Good morning WordPress World! Pull up your eyes to this freshly brewed pot of poetry and enjoy….

The ancient eavesdropper

ants and honey

Disclaimer:  No ants were harmed during the making of this poem.  

Ants on the countertop,

where did they come from?

Dancing about

as if doing the tango.


I thought and I pondered

about my dilemma:

are ants attracted

to wood and formica

or are they just

nervously tactful?


Finding a hole through

the siding,

showing they can

sneak into a house

and disrupt fine dining.

Latching onto an unknown scent

until the source can be traced

and found equally by all

who have a most keen sense of smell.

Voila, a new residence

right under our noses,

one of the five left lacking,

fine time to send that

proboscis packing.

A whole colony has

come and gone,

from where I cannot decide,

but surely it is not my

foul cooking

of which no air freshener

can hide.


Then one day

early at breakfast,

I warmed up…
