Another eye opener for those of you still waking up (or driving to work half asleep). Digest and enjoy. Cheers. It’s Friday!
Awake, now halfway conscious,
the struggle lies in bed
and getting out of its
feathery soft jaws, I relax,
the quicksand sets like cement.
My stomach ponders breakfast,
but my mind tries to remember dreams;
brain cells drooling over past memory,
spilled milk under the bridge –
I forget all but the muddled cliches it seems.
Cornflakes pop and crunch like joints in my mouth,
releasing taste and wholesome goodness throughout.
My tongue savors moments long before they arrive,
salivating anticipation of the ascent on a roller coaster ride.
Eyes glint and shine from seeing the sun rise.
I grasp the meaning of patience – its climax and elegance,
heightened awareness when all my senses were dulled and expired.
Seeking and finding simplicity anew in the presence
of nothing more than myself.
Oh, the possibilities of transcending my corner of the world,
one blink, one second at a time.
