What for?

Here is a short, simple poem with heart and meaning. I hope all of you are thriving on this wonderful Wednesday!

The ancient eavesdropper

Listen, for all silence is not filled by words

Give, for getting is an easy indulgence

Live, for dying is the quick exit thru the back door

Forgive, for harboring hatred hurts those we hold dear

Learn, for nothing smarts more than wisdom

Build, for burning bridges weakens our bonds

Sing, for the spirit within us must be heard

Sleep, for tired eyes need rest from all that’s been seen

Thrive, for our being is an unmistakable tour de force of soul

  1. Brilliant write! It encompasses the human experience, the last verse is superb!

    • Thank you, Nirvani! I appreciate your kind words. As a poet, I am oftentimes drawn not to rhymes and flowery text but to the deeper meanings of simple truths drawn from our souls. The human experience must be lived everyday, and through this life, show us the way to be.

It’s Thursday as I read this, so I will thrive on Thursday. Wednesday was pretty good too.

    • Great to hear! We should thrive everyday and strive to learn more about ourselves and the natural world. I think we are both following similar paths – it’s so wonderful to share the journey with others, even if it’s over the blog-o-sphere. Here’s to thriving off the moment 🙂
