Read it and sleep

Softly the night descends
over its tired denizens.

The bright moon sticks out
like a bookmark lodged
in the star-dusted pages
of the universe.

Heavy eyelids sink
into the orbit of the iris,
collapsing from a crescent shape
into pitch black evanescence.
