It’s my 30th birthday today and I have written a poem for you to reflect on. I apologize for not being able to share cake over the internet, but it is national pi day, so treat yourself to a calculator and geek out (3.14……etc……etc……etc…….).
Wow, I’ve now lived
30 years on this earth,
only one-third a century
but with all the traveling,
school, jobs, the hurries, worries
and exquisite sunrises
and sunsets, this short time has
been dense, rich and well spent.
More than anything, I’ve learned
to respect the moment and enjoy
the journey, no matter how unpredictably
bumpy, dusty, flat or hilly.
Failures generate hindsight
and ask, “what could I have done right?”
Success is foresight
in action and proclaims, “I expect perfection!”
Turning 30 hasn’t really made me feel wiser, per se,
just more mature for my age.
Wait another 30 years and I might have
some sage advice,
but for now it’s 30% down
and a majority to go.
Thanks for coming along
on this wild ride!
A big Happy Birthday to you! I hope you’re having a great day. Follow your bliss . . . no matter what! best, rick
Thank you, Rick! I am definitely trying to follow my bliss through poetry, photography, grant writing and managing watershed restoration projects. I look forward to reading your blog…so far, I am really enjoying your writing style and content. Hope you had a great day as well!
Happy Birthday. Apparently we do become wiser but I have not really noticed much change in myself 😉 Continue to enjoy the ride.
Thank you for the birthday wishes! One can look wise but not feel wise…my gray hairs are starting to appear at an alarming rate…though the wise bit hasn’t hit my brain yet. I plan on enjoying the ride, no matter where it takes me!
love the listing of 4 lines…and the sentiment as a whole. You are–as they say–a baby! 🙂 Best wishes for the next 66 percent…
Thank you, Charron! Now that I’ve tackled thirty, I don’t have to worry about dodging forty for awhile 🙂
Cheers,
Tyler
