Turtle treasure

Miniature metal turtle

with bobbling tail and head,

basking on my dashboard,

chimes ring around every bend.

I found you at an antique store

some six years ago

and you follow me still

everywhere I go.

To Helena, Chicago,

Portland and Coos Bay,

Corvallis now your new

home, the magnet pulling

you every which way.

When I see your checkerboard

shell gleaming, I know I haven’t lost

my luster, for this life is such a

strange and wonderful trinket

to behold, savor and treasure.
